German ICO startup Savedroid, which had raised approximately $50 million, executed what they believed was a clever PR stunt by pretending to exit scam. Their website went blank except for a South Park 'and it's gone' meme, and CEO Yassin Hankir tweeted a photo of himself at an airport with 'Thanks guys! Over and out...' After investors panicked for hours, Hankir reappeared claiming it was all a 'joke' to raise awareness about ICO scams. The crypto community's response was overwhelmingly negative, with the stunt widely condemned as a massive breach of trust that destroyed whatever credibility the project had built.
